1. Do I have to come into a PGW office to apply for gas service?
No, you can apply by phone, in person or online.

2. How often will I get a gas bill?
Customers are billed monthly. E-Bill customers will receive an e-mail notification each month that their PGW gas bill is ready with a link to our website.

3. What payment options are available?

  • pay with a check or money order and mail to: Philadelphia Gas Works, P.O. Box 11700, Newark, NJ 07101-4700.
  • pay at a Customer Service Center with a check, cash,
  • VISA, Mastercard or money order.
  • pay online with a bank checking account, VISA, MasterCard, Discover or debit card.
    -- A $2.95 third-party payment processing fee will be charged for each payment.
     -- You can select the Auto Pay option to enroll in automatic monthly payments where your payment will be electronically deducted from your bank account on your bill due date each month -- and IT'S FREE!*
    *Please note that it could take one or two months for your enrollment to be completed. Customers should continue to pay their bill until an Auto Pay message is displayed on the coupon section of the PGW bill statement.
  • pay at an authorized PGW Payment Center: Americash (PDF, 75k) or *Traveler's Express (PDF, 22k)
  • pay by phone, (215) 235-1000, using credit card or check. There is a $2.95 third-party payment processing fee for payments.
*Please note that Traveler's Express locations may charge a small fee for bill payment.

4. Is there a low-income program?
Yes, the Customer Responsibility Program. Also see LIHEAP and CRISIS grants.

5. Is installment billing available?
PGW has a 12-month Budget Plan or customers may make a payment arrangement based on household income and the amount owed.

6 . What if I disagree with my bill?

Talk to a PGW representative by phone or in person.

7. What do I do if I have a complaint and I am not satisfied with PGW's response?
You may contact the PA Public Utility Commission. The PUC's Web site explains formal and informal complaint processes.

8. What do I do if I can't pay on time?
Call for help before you get behind; don't risk having your gas shut off. Talk to us by phone or in person.

9. Is there an insurance plan for gas appliances?
PGW offers a Parts and Labor Plan.

10. Can I check my PGW account online?

Yes, PGW customers can view and analyze their bills online. To register, visit My Account.

11. Can I pay my bill online?
Yes, you can pay online with a bank account, VISA, MasterCard, Discover or debit card.
-- A $2.95 third-party payment processing fee will be charged for each payment.

 -- You can select the Auto Pay option and enroll in automatic monthly payments where you rpayment will be electronically deducted from your bank account on your bill due date each month-- and IT'S FREE!

Please note that it could take one or two months for your enrollment to be completed. Customers should continue to pay their bill until an Auto Pay message is displayed on the coupon section of the PGW bill statement.

12. Can I pay my PGW bill by credit card?

Yes, you can pay your PGW bill with a credit card online, at one of our Customer Service Centers, or by phone, 215-235-1000. There is a $2.95 third-party payment processing fee for this service.

13. Do I need to let PGW read my meter or have access to the meter?
Yes, the meter is PGW's property. PGW must have access for purposes of maintenance, operations and meter reading. Failure to allow access to the meter could result in PGW shutting off gas service to the property.
