Federal Poverty Level

What Does Federal Poverty Level (FPL) Mean?
The set minimum amount of gross income that a family needs for food, clothing, transportation, shelter and other necessities. This level is determined by the Department of Health and Human Services. FPL varies according to family size. The number is adjusted for inflation and reported annually in the form of poverty guidelines.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
LIHEAP provides assistance to help eligible low-income households pay the costs of home heating.

Crisis
The Crisis program provides grants to help resolve a heating emergency, such as preventing shut-off, restoring service or fixing a broken heater.
