Choosing Gas Cooling
Why Choose Gas Cooling?
A growing number of successful businesses choose to invest in new technology for the best reason of all: it can improve a building owner's bottom line.

Adding natural gas cooling can cut peak demand charges, reduce operating costs, keep your building more comfortable, improve the environment, and make you a good neighbor in a city where electrical brownouts can cause problems.

The benefits of natural gas cooling include:
  • Energy savings and possibly energy rebates
  • Flexibility to choose least-cost fuel
  • Reliable cooling during brownouts and outages (requires a small gas-powered emergency generator)
  • Better air quality and indoor comfort

Gas Cooling vs. Electric Cooling

Demand for electricity peaks during summer air conditioning months, when natural gas is abundant and inexpensive. But high electric air conditioning bills can plague your company all year. The electric utility calculates your winter demand charge at 80% of your highest peak demand of the previous summer - for all eight months of winter.

A natural gas or hybrid chiller plant will reduce that peak summer demand and the year-long penalty you pay for electric air conditioning.

Peak shaving to reduce bills is only one of the advantages of cooling with clean-burning, environmentally friendly natural gas.

If you smell gas or have an unsafe condition, call (215) 235-1212 immediately.
