Your new bill: Easier to read, compare and understand

Have you looked over your latest bill? Starting in May, PGW customers began receiving a newly designed bill with even more user-friendly features.

You asked; we delivered.

After receiving input from our customers, your new bill includes:

• A 24-month energy usage chart;
• Your average year-over-year daily energy costs;
• An easier-to-read bill summary on the front page; and
• Customized messages for you from PGW.

Gas bills are generally issued on a monthly basis and are based on the amount of gas used as measured through PGW's meter located on your property.

Most meters are AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) devices, which transmit information from your meter to a special PGW van equipped to receive and store meter readings electronically as the van travels through your neighborhood.

Bills may also be calculated by estimating the amount of gas you use. Estimates are based on past usage for your property and are adjusted for weather conditions as appropriate. An estimated bill will be clearly marked as such.

Residential Customer Rights and Responsibilities
As a residential utility customer, you have many important rights and responsibilities to ensure fair dealings between you and Philadelphia Gas Works. "Your Rights and Responsibilities as a Utility Customer," a guide prepared by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC), highlights your rights relating to billing, credit, dispute, and shutoff practices.
