Turn Off Gas Service

PGW has now made the process of turning off your gas service and closing your account available online. Simply complete the online application with all the needed information, and a PGW representative will contact you either by phone or email to finalize the turn off.

Be sure to notify PGW at least seven days in advance to arrange for a final billing and, if moving, to transfer your account to a new address.

You are responsible for gas used at the property until PGW gets in to turn it off at the meter, so be sure to make and keep an appointment for this vital step.

This service is only available for residents within Philadelphia. If you are turning your gas service on outside Philadelphia limits, you may need to contact PECO to do so.

Landlords
If you are a landlord requesting a turn off of gas service for a tenant, you must submit a Voluntary Relinquish Form, which must be signed by all tenants and notarized before gas service can be turned off. Visit one of our Customer Service Centers or (215) 235-1000 for more information on how to submit the form to PGW.

If you smell gas or have an unsafe condition, call (215) 235-1212 immediately.
