The Philadelphia Gas Works’ (PGW) Customer Service Centers
will be closed on In response to the recent colder than normal
weather conditions, the Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) is taking
extra, personalized steps in an effort to restore service
to residential customers who have had their natural gas turned
off due to past due bill balances.
This past weekend, PGW representatives visited approximately
2,600 low-income customers with information on CRISIS grants.
These grants may be used as a down payment as part of a
payment agreement, which could enable many of these customers
to have their service restored.
Beginning this week, PGW representatives are attempting
to visit an additional 1,400 customers with shut-offs to
discuss options to have their service restored. Also, PGW
mailed letters to each of these two groups of customers
urging them to contact PGW by telephone to discuss options
to have their service restored. PGW is providing a special
number for customers to call, (215) 978-1051, to assure
that their situation is handled as quickly as possible.
In addition to all of these extraordinary personal outreach
measures, PGW is contacting each of these shut-off customers
using an automated telephone system urging them to call
the special number to discuss options to have their service
restored. It is PGW’s goal to restore service to as
many heating customers as possible and to continue to provide
that service throughout the heating season.
For more information on any of these programs, including
LIHEAP and CRISIS grants, customers should call PGW at (215)
