Why is this Customer Service Center closing?
PGW’s lease on the space at 1137 Chestnut Street ends on August 31st, 2019 and the owner’s future plans for the space do not include its continued use by PGW.

Will PGW open a replacement Customer Service Center in Center City?
PGW has no plans to open a replacement service center in Center City.

Where can I find the nearest Customer Service Center?
PGW has five accessible Customer Service Centers throughout Philadelphia to serve you, and we are looking at the possibility of expanding their hours of operation, as necessary. At least three locations are open on any given weekday.

Who can I call for assistance with PGW service, programs or account information?
You can call our Customer Care Team at 215-235-1000 between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. PGW also offers a call-back system, so you don’t have to stay on hold during times of high call volume. Simply enter your phone number, and we’ll call you back.

Natural Gas smells bad on purpose

That “rotten egg” smell is the smell of natural gas. If you think you smell gas leave the area immediately, and then call PGW at 215-235-1212 from a safe location.

Also if you smell gas:

  • Do not use electrical devices including cell phones which may cause a spark and ignite the gas.
  • Do not use an open flame, matches or lighters.
  • Do not try to locate the source of the gas leak.
  • Do not try to shut off any natural gas valves or gas appliances.
  • Do not start vehicles.
  • Do not re-enter the building or return to the area until a PGW employee or a qualified utility representative says it is safe to do so.
  • Do not put out the flames if natural gas ignites.
